Dr. B Shekar, an enthusiastic supporter of Art Lovers International, is a professor at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB). He has made significant research contributions in the fields of Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making.

He has studied creative patterns in music and visual arts, and presented them in various forums. At IIMB, in addition to teaching courses on Information systems, he has pioneered the design and instruction of courses on Thinking paradigms, and Creativity in Arts and Science. Since 1999 he has been teaching a course on Thinking paradigms to the MBA students of IIMB. He conducts a course on creativity for the doctoral students of IIMB. At IIMB, he has guided research in information systems and related areas.

 

The Deccan Herald, a leading newspaper of India presented “Best Business Schools” awards to Business Schools and Institutes of Management which had shown excellence in providing quality management education. Individuals who had developed innovative course curriculums, demonstrated effective teaching practices and achieved excellence in teaching were presented with “Best Teacher in Management” awards.
In recognition of his teaching and research contributions, Deccan Herald presented Professor B. Shekar with “Best Teacher in Management” Award for South India on 10th August 2008 at the Best B-Schools Awards Function in Bangalore. “Best Business School” Award for South India was presented to Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. The awards were presented by the chief guest Chris Gopalakrishnan, Chief Executive Officer of Infosys Technologies, Bangalore, India.
